The Taupo Primary Maternity Unit offers a service to the communities in the Taupo, Turangi and Mangakino area (the Southern Lakes district).  We assist mothers in achieving safe and healthy births in an integrated primary maternity service unit.

A new project has been launched by the Lakes District Health Board aimed at ensuring a safe, sustainable and effective integrated primary maternity services exists for women living in the Southern Lakes district.

Lakes District Health Board Endorses Taupo Primary Maternity Services Project Report Recommendations

Lakes District Health Board has agreed to reconfirm its plans to relocate the Taupo Maternity Unit into the redeveloped Taupo Hospital, as part of the recommendations of the year-long project.
